Renowned as a maritime playground for sun-starved Americans, this stunning string of subtropical islands is so much more than a cruise-ship stopover. Stretched between the depths of the North Atlantic and Florida’s eastern coast, the Bahamas comprises more than 700 islands and 2400 cays, most uninhabited, and all fringed by spectacular coral and fathomless ocean trenches. From the grit and bustle of funky Nassau to the vast mangroves of Andros, there’s an astonishing array of beaches, reefs, forests and historic towns to be discovered, all within the compass of an hour’s flight.
The Bahamas is known for its fresh seafood dishes and one of the most frequently enjoyed catches on the island is the grouper – a fish with light flavor similar to that of bass or cod. Commonly grilled or fried, it is a delicious regional dish that you won’t want to miss.

Located just three miles from Nassau, it is now the home of the dolphins and sea lions of Dolphin Encounters and is owned by a local family. This incredibly beautiful island has had a fascinating past and continues to be the number one attraction in Nassau/Paradise Island for activities with families and is wonderfully enlightening and educational excursion suited for children and adults alike.
This Fort was constructed of cut limestone c. 1793 and strategically placed atop Bennet’s Hill to protect historic Nassau town and its harbour; it was built under the governorship of John Murray, also called Viscount Fincastle, in the shape of a paddle-wheel steamer.
